Terms and Conditions for Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning services, together with related upholstery, rug, and fabric care services where agreed in advance. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. These terms are designed to create a fair framework for both the customer and Knightsbridge carpet cleaners, ensuring that expectations are clear before any cleaning work begins.
In these Terms and Conditions, the words “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners. The words “you” and “your” refer to the person, business, landlord, tenant, agent, or other party making the booking or authorising the work. These terms apply to all carpet cleaning appointments unless we agree otherwise in writing. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version that applies to your booking will be the version in force at the time the booking is confirmed, unless we are required to make changes by law. Any reference to a service, price, time estimate, or outcome should be interpreted reasonably and in the context of the specific property, material, and condition of the items to be cleaned.
1. Booking Process
All bookings for carpet cleaning services are subject to availability and confirmation. A booking request does not create a binding agreement until we have accepted it. We may request information about the property, access arrangements, carpet type, stain history, condition of the items, and any special requirements before confirming a visit. This allows us to assess whether the requested carpet cleaning service is suitable and whether any specialist equipment, treatment, or additional time may be needed.
When you book, you must provide accurate and complete information. This includes the address, service type, approximate room count or area, relevant access instructions, parking restrictions if applicable, and any known risks such as fragile flooring, pre-existing damage, heavy soiling, or concealed stains. If information changes after booking, you must notify us as soon as reasonably possible. We reserve the right to revise the quoted price, service scope, or appointment time where the original booking details were incomplete or incorrect.
Appointments are offered subject to operational scheduling. While we aim to attend within the agreed time window, arrival times may vary due to traffic, previous job duration, weather, or other circumstances beyond our control. We will try to communicate any significant delay. If access is not available at the agreed time, or if the property is unsafe or unsuitable for the work, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation or failed visit in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
2. Quotations, Service Scope, and Acceptance
Any quotation provided by Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners is based on the information supplied at the time of quoting and is usually valid for a limited period unless stated otherwise. A quotation is not a guarantee of final price where the actual condition of the carpet cleaning project differs from the description provided. The final charge may vary if additional rooms, heavily soiled areas, specialist stain treatment, stain guard application, or extra labour is required and approved by you on site.
Our service descriptions are intended to explain the general nature of the work we provide, not to guarantee a specific visual outcome. Carpet, rug, and upholstery materials vary widely in fibre, dye stability, pile height, age, and previous treatment. Accordingly, cleaning results will depend on many factors beyond our control. We will use reasonable skill and care and appropriate methods for the material, but we do not promise the removal of every stain, odour, or mark, especially where these are permanent, set-in, or caused by prior damage.
By accepting a quotation or confirming a booking, you authorise us to carry out the agreed service and to charge for the work performed in accordance with the agreed price or any revised price agreed before or during the visit. If you ask us to proceed with additional work during the appointment, that extra work will be charged separately unless we expressly agree otherwise.
3. Payments and Charges
Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of booking or immediately before the service. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the service on the same day. We may accept payment by bank transfer, card, or other approved methods, but availability of any payment option is not guaranteed. We reserve the right to require a deposit, part-payment, or full prepayment for certain bookings, including larger commercial jobs, repeat cancellations, or work requiring special scheduling.
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and, unless stated, include applicable taxes where required by law. Additional charges may apply where there is excess contamination, pet treatment, water extraction, movement of substantial furniture, difficult access, parking charges incurred by us, or any other circumstance that was not reasonably foreseeable from the initial booking details. If a charge changes materially, we will explain the reason before proceeding wherever practicable.
Late payment may result in administration charges, interest, or recovery action where permitted by law. If payment is not received when due, we may suspend future services, refuse further bookings, or recover our reasonable costs of collection. This does not affect any rights we may have to claim for unpaid sums through the courts or other lawful means. Any discount, promotion, or offer is provided at our discretion and may be withdrawn or amended at any time before booking confirmation.
4. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments
You may cancel or reschedule a booking, but we ask that you provide reasonable notice so that we can manage our schedule fairly. Unless a different cancellation policy is stated at the time of booking, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a charge to cover lost time, allocated resources, and travel costs. Where we have already incurred materials, parking, or subcontractor costs, those may also be charged to the extent reasonably necessary.
If you reschedule, we will try to accommodate a new date subject to availability. However, repeat changes may result in a revised price, reduced priority, or a requirement for prepayment. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone an appointment due to staff illness, equipment failure, severe weather, unsafe access, public transport disruption, or any other event outside our reasonable control. In such cases, we will seek to offer an alternative time.
If we arrive and cannot complete the work because no one is present to grant access, the property is locked, utilities needed for the service are unavailable, or the site conditions are unsuitable, the appointment may be charged as a failed visit. This includes situations where the customer has not prepared the area as required, where animals prevent safe work, or where essential information was withheld. We may also decline to proceed if the property conditions create unreasonable risk to staff, equipment, or surfaces.
5. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that the property is ready for the service at the agreed time. This may include clearing small items, securing valuables, moving fragile objects, and informing us of any hidden hazards. Although we may assist with limited furniture movement at our discretion, we are not obliged to move heavy, fixed, delicate, or high-risk items. Any furniture moved by us may be returned to a reasonable position, but exact placement is not guaranteed.
You must ensure that we have safe access to electricity, water, and the areas to be cleaned where these are required for the chosen method. You should also tell us about any allergies, sensitivities, or specific concerns before the appointment. If you request treatment for stains, odours, or contamination, you acknowledge that some substances may not respond fully and that some cleaning agents may affect colour or finish on delicate fabrics or older carpets.
You must keep children, pets, and unauthorised persons away from wet or treated areas until they are safe for normal use. We will provide reasonable advice on drying times and aftercare, but drying duration is affected by ventilation, temperature, humidity, and pile thickness. We are not responsible for re-soiling, footprints, or marks caused by early use of the carpet before it has dried adequately.
6. Liability and Limitations
We will carry out all carpet cleaning work with reasonable care and skill. However, cleaning carries inherent risks, particularly where materials are old, already damaged, poorly maintained, incorrectly installed, or previously treated with unsuitable products. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, permanent staining, dye transfer, shrinkage caused by unstable materials, or wear that becomes visible during or after cleaning. Where a surface is fragile or high risk, we may refuse treatment or proceed only on a limited basis.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our total liability arising from any single booking is limited to the total amount paid or payable for the specific service giving rise to the claim, except where a different limit is required by law. We are not liable for indirect, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or inconvenience.
If you believe damage has occurred, you must notify us as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event within 48 hours of the service completion, unless another period is required by law. You should allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue, and where appropriate, to remedy it. Failure to report concerns promptly may make it more difficult to investigate the cause or assess responsibility. We do not accept liability for claims where access is refused, evidence is unavailable, or the area has been altered after the service.
7. Waste Regulations and Environmental Compliance
We aim to operate in compliance with applicable UK waste, environmental, and pollution-control requirements. Waste generated during carpet cleaning services may include removed soil, disposable cloths, contaminated materials, waste packaging, and residues from cleaning products. Where applicable, waste will be handled, stored, transported, and disposed of lawfully and in a manner intended to reduce environmental impact. You must not ask us to dispose of prohibited, hazardous, or undisclosed materials without prior agreement and appropriate handling arrangements.
If, during a job, we identify materials that appear to be hazardous, contaminated, or regulated, we may suspend or limit the service until safe arrangements are made. This can include items contaminated by bodily fluids, chemicals, mould, pests, sharps, or other substances requiring specialist treatment. Any additional charges arising from lawful disposal, protective measures, or specialist handling must be agreed before work continues wherever possible. We are not responsible for waste already present at the property that was not part of our service.
You must ensure that the information you provide about contamination, waste, or special cleaning requirements is accurate. If you conceal hazardous conditions, you may be liable for any resulting costs, delays, or regulatory issues. We reserve the right to refuse work that would breach applicable waste laws, create health and safety concerns, or require handling beyond our operational permissions. Any waste removed by us remains subject to our standard disposal processes and record-keeping practices where required.
8. Complaints, Re-Cleans, and Remedies
If you are dissatisfied with a service provided by Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners, you should inform us promptly so that we can review the matter. We may request photographs, a description of the concern, and access to inspect the affected area. In many cases, issues can be addressed by explanation, follow-up advice, or a reasonable revisit where appropriate. A revisit is not automatically available in every case, especially where the issue results from pre-existing wear, inadequate ventilation, re-soiling, or incorrect use after cleaning.
Where we agree that a service shortfall has occurred within our control, our preferred remedy may be a re-clean of the affected area or another reasonable corrective step. Any remedy will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and does not create a right to a refund unless required by law or expressly agreed by us. No complaint will be considered a waiver of our rights to payment for work properly carried out. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
9. General Terms, Governing Law, and Jurisdiction
If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. No delay or failure by us to enforce any right will operate as a waiver of that right. Any variation to these Terms and Conditions must be made in writing or clearly confirmed by us. These terms form the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the relevant service, unless additional terms are expressly agreed for a particular booking.
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from them or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law provides otherwise. By booking our services, you acknowledge that you have read these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them in relation to the cleaning services provided by Knightsbridge Carpet Cleaners.
For the avoidance of doubt, any reference to carpet cleaners, carpet cleaning, or carpet cleaning services in these terms includes the use of comparable cleaning methods, tools, and treatments selected at our discretion for the relevant material and condition. We will always aim to provide a professional service, but the nature of textile cleaning means that results can never be guaranteed absolutely. These Terms and Conditions are intended to balance practical service delivery with fair protection for both parties.
